Ghost Hunters

Whether you are looking for ghosts, or simply trying to avoid getting microwave sickness, an EMF or RF meter can be a handy tool to have.

Paranormal Technology: Gadgets For Ghost-Tracking - NPR

The RIP team's tech manager, Chris Williams, lists off a few essential gadgets they bring along on investigations, like an electromagnetic field (EMF) detector and a temperature gun.

The EMF meter measures electromagnetic fields sent out by faulty wires and radio waves, but investigators insist the meter can also detect spirits. Temperature guns measure the air for the cold spots that, ghost stories say, mark haunted sites. Williams also recommends carrying night-vision cameras, surveillance devices, motion detectors and a couple of walkie-talkies.

Gathered around a table in a Ronkonkoma garage is a lawyer, salesman, accountant and even a fast-food manager.

They are not here for their day job. The motley crüe is here for their night job: to communicate with ghosts. Mike Cardinuto is the leader of Long Island's Paranormal Investigations.

It is an organized operation where each person is assigned a task and in charge of a device.

"Jamie gets the digital electro smog meter and trifield meter," Cardinuto calls out to a coworker who jots it down on a dry erase board.
