Brain Waves

More proof that radio frequencies do in fact have non-thermal biological effects. The frequency used in this study is the same employed by Smart Meters (902-928 Mhz ISM). But what if it is not a steady "dose" of radiation for 1 hour, twice a day?

What if we get 10,000 milli-second doses every few seconds, 24/7?

Mobile phone radiation may reverse Alzheimer's: Study - Times of India

Researchers at the University of South Florida conducted a study that exposed 96 mice, most of whom had been genetically altered to develop the Alzheimer's disease as they aged, to electromagnetic waves generated by mobile phones.

The mice were zapped with 918MHz of frequency twice a day for one hour each time over a period of seven to nine months - the equivalent of several decades in humans, the Herald Sun reported.

Based on the findings in mice, the researchers anticipate that electromagnetic field exposure could be an effective, non-invasive and drug-free way to prevent and cure Alzheimer's disease in humans.

Ham radio could prevent Alzheimer's - G4ILO's Blog

This research has interesting implications for us radio amateurs. For somebody such as myself whose memory is getting so bad I had to keep switching back to the article to remind myself what I was writing about, I can't wait for the results of the research to determine what is the most effective frequency. Perhaps I should bring the magnetic loop down from the attic and sit it on the desk beside me to get more benefit from the radiation. If it is really only GHz waves that have the benefits then perhaps I should invest in an Alinco DJ-G7. Though as nobody else round here works 23cm I'd end up talking to myself, which would result in other people thinking I'd got dementia.

Perhaps this news could result in neighbours being pleased at living next door to a radio amateur and actually encouraging them to put up bigger antennas and more power. Properties sited next to a radio mast might even see a rise in value. Well, it's nice to dream!

Mobile phone radiation 'protects' against Alzheimer's - BBC News

All the mice were exposed to the electro-magnetic field generated by a standard phone for two one-hour periods each day for seven to nine months.

The authors say previous studies have linked a possible increased risk of Alzheimer's with "low-frequency" electro-magnetic exposure like the energy waves generated by power and telephone lines.

They say mobile phones emit "high frequency" electro-magnetic waves that are very different because they can have beneficial effects on brain function, such as increasing brain cell activity.

Rebecca Wood, chief executive of the Alzheimer's Research Trust, said: "This research has been carried out in mice that mimic some of the symptoms of Alzheimer's in people, so we don't know if any similar effects will be seen in humans.

"Although the researchers hope their findings will translate to people, much more research is needed to find out if there could be any beneficial effects of long-term exposure to electro-magnetism, and to guarantee its safety.

"We don't recommend spending 24 hours a day on a mobile phone - we don't know the long-term effects, and bills could go through the roof."
