The first smart meter: A homeowner's view - Burlington Free Press
Burlington’s first smart meter was installed Monday at the home of Gabrielle Stebbins on Locust Terrace. Stebbins is the executive director of Montpelier-based nonprofit Renewable Energy Vermont.
Her endorsement of the project:
"Smart meters lead us to a smart grid, which ultimately makes it easier to integrate and transfer over to renewables and electric vehicles. I am not worried about health or security risks from the smart meter. I have read a fair amount about smart meters and smart-grid development, and I cannot find factual, scientific evidence to make me concerned. I have also read quite a bit from those who have concerns, and I just do not find the concerns are grounded in facts. Regarding security risks, we live in an Internet age, and a great bulk of information is already available to anyone with the capacity to access it."
As Gabrielle points out, we live in an Internet age and a great bulk of information is available about the biological effects of radio frequency electromagnetic radiation. Clearly, some folks would rather be guinea pigs, risking their family's health, than spend time researching a challenging issue thoroughly.
You can handle the truth!
