Getting All The Facts

Few hopefuls at meter forum - The Daily News

Only nine of 28 candidates for City council turned out Thursday to hear a fearful tirade against smart meters, given to a crowd already clearly opposed.

The candidates who showed up, however, largely joined the crowd in opposition to the installation of wireless technology. None of the candidates volunteered support for smart meters.

Mayoral candidate Dieter Dudy drew loud applause from the 50 or people in the conference room at the Desert Gardens when he said he would call for a moratorium on smart meters.

“There are too many unanswered questions, particularly about the effects on our health of being bombarded by a human carcinogen,” he said.

Council hopeful Peter Sharp said he is scared of smart meters.

“Until we know all the facts, I don’t know I want one in my home. We need all the facts and I don’t know that we are getting them all,” he said.
